It might be a health issue, but most likely a VERY treatable one. Look into polycystic ovarian syndrome. It can cause facial hair in women and it's very common. It can be treated with certain birth control pills or a drug called Metformin. Cushing's sydrome also causes facial hair, but is less common. PCOS is more likely. See your doc. Please don't worry.

Nothing to be all concerned about, but okay you'll have to go to electrolysis or hair removal.i havent gotten it yet but occasionally my bf will find a strand every so often on my chin but my 17 yrold sis has had mad facial hair since she was 15. LOL my grandma and aunt just let theres grow but my moms gets it removed.

54125 - you might have PCOS - look it up online and see if you have any other symptoms.

I am not a physician, but I have never hear of facial hair as a symptom of a serious medical condition. I do know they have medications to prevent the growth of facial hair. I am impressed that, as a 19 year old, your main concern is about your health and not your appearance. You are obviously a very smart young woman, so you don't need me to tell you to see a physician. Just make an appointment Monday. Best of luck to you, my dear. M.

I agree with the others who say it could be PCOS or Cushing's, but the same thing happened to me when I was your age and the diagnosis was "idiopathic hirsutism," which means they don't know what causes it. I've taken medication over the years (spironolactone) which has lessened the growth but not stopped it. It's a bothersome and embarassing condition, but likely does not point to a severe health issue. You are not alone! Good luck.

I agree, PCOS is something you should definitely be tested for. Treatable but not curable, do not worry about it, there are plenty of women living with this condition. One of them is me !

Don't feel so bad. REAL women get hair on their tits, they just pluck it off.

It could be polycystic ovaries - most often treatable fairly simply with hormones, but easier the sooner you get diagnosed. or it could just be the misfortune of having a bit more testosterone than average - all girls have some - and best treated with laser hair removal if you decide it's worthwhile. go to your doctor, honey. it's not going to be as bad as you think and you can stop panicking. x

Yeah, it might be a health issue, but it's also very common, and it's not life threatening, in all likelihood. Try not to stress too much about it hun :)
